Your tasks
As a (Senior) Data Governance Consultant, you work at the intersection of business, technology and organization. You help our clients establish the ownership, processes and capabilities needed to make their data trustworthy, accessible and usable. From defining governance frameworks to embedding them in everyday operations, you enable organizations to create business value from data and AI.
- Assess clients’ data governance maturity, identify organizational and operational gaps, and develop actionable roadmaps aligned with their business and data strategies.
- Design and implement data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, decision bodies and escalation processes.
- Develop data governance operating models with clear roles and responsibilities for data owners, data stewards and cross-functional governance teams.
- Help clients establish practical approaches to data quality management, including quality rules, monitoring, issue resolution and accountability.
- Shape metadata management practices, including business glossaries, data catalogs and data lineage, to improve transparency and a shared understanding of data.
- Translate governance requirements into processes and tooling needs, working closely with business stakeholders and technical experts from our development department.
- Prepare and facilitate workshops, develop training and communication materials, and support the adoption of governance practices across business and IT teams.
- Connect governance initiatives to data products and AI use cases, define measures of success, and communicate recommendations through clear, management-ready deliverables.
- Lead data governance projects or major workstreams end-to-end, taking responsibility for scope, approach, deliverables, quality and stakeholder alignment.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders on data governance, ownership and operating model decisions.
- Guide clients through organizational change, resolve competing stakeholder priorities and ensure governance practices become part of day-to-day operations.
- Further develop our data governance methods, frameworks and service offerings, and contribute to business development through proposals and client discussions.
- Mentor junior colleagues and promote knowledge sharing on data governance and data management.
Your profile
- Degree in data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, business or economics, computer science or business informatics, engineering, or a comparable quantitative, technological or governance-oriented field.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience in full-time in data governance, data management or data strategy, ideally in consulting or a relevant role in industry.
- Practical experience in one or moreof the following areas:
- Design and implementation of data governance frameworks and policies
- Definition of data ownership, stewardship roles and governance operating models
- Data quality management, including quality rules, monitoring and issue resolution
- Metadata management, business glossaries, data catalogs or data lineage.
- Master and reference data management
- Change management and adoption of data governance practices
- A solid understanding of modern data platforms and architectures, and how governance requirements translate into organizational processes and technical capabilities.
- Familiarity with data governance or data management tools is a plus, particularly experience translating business requirements into tool selection, configuration or rollout.
- Strong conceptual and structured thinking, with the ability to turn complex data landscapes and organizational challenges into practical solutions.
- Confident stakeholder management and facilitation skills; you can build alignment between business, IT and control functions and make responsibilities clear.
- A consulting mindset: you take ownership, are comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy working collaboratively in client-facing teams.
- Very good communication and presentation skills in German and English.
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in full-time, with a clear focus on data governance or data management.
- A proven track record of leading projects or substantial workstreams that put governance frameworks, roles and processes into practice.
- Experience advising senior stakeholders on governance priorities, organizational responsibilities and implementation trade-offs.
- Ability to define pragmatic governance approaches that fit a client’s maturity, business priorities and organizational structure.
- Experience in business development, such as proposal work, developing service offerings or thought leadership, is a plus.
- A high level of autonomy and confidence in representing our perspective on data governance in front of clients.
